• Enable alerts: Set up transaction and login alerts for your accounts to get notified right away once a transaction is processed. 

• Avoid posting travel plans or purchases on social media, as it can tip off potential thieves. 

• Refrain from shopping online while connected to unsecured public Wi-Fi networks found in locations such as malls, airports, or restaurants.  

• Shop at online sites with web addresses that begin with the letters "https:" The "s" stands for secure communications. Also look for a padlock icon in the browser window.
